Although the upgrading of the French railway system is one of LISEA’s major challenges, the infrastructure’s performance and security are part of its top priorities. It is with these aims in mind that LISEA relies on innovations developed with its partners and strives to keep-up the highest possible safety level and to improve the line’s sturdiness and industrial & operational performance.

A DRIVING FORCE FOR THE SAFETY PERFORMANCE OF THE RAILWAY SYSTEM

With a view to sustaining the highest possible level of safety, LISEA has emphasized the professionalisation of its analytical methods and has consistently shared its strong safety culture with the other railway system players. At the request of the Public Establishment for Railway Safety (EPSF), LISEA has coordinated a working group dedicated to the enhancement of safety for the benefit of all railway operators. Together with SNCF Réseau (‘Network’), SNCF Voyageurs (‘Travellers’), prefectural authorities and rescue services, LISEA has also organized several in-house exercises, on the topic of crisis & disruptive situations management. As a result: the severity-frequency rate – key indicator of the level of rail safety on the line – has shown a steady decrease throughout the year, reaching, in 2019, its lowest level since the opening of the line.
